Halesowen Town Football Club can confirm that this morning Paul Smith and Lee Hughes have mutually agreed that it would be best for both parties for Lee to move on.
Lee scored 13 goals in 51 appearances for the Yeltz, his goals and influence helped to keep us at step 3 during the 2017-18 season and had a ten-game spell as Player Manager towards the end of last season, sadly just one win and four draws were not enough to stave off relegation.
On Lee’s departure, Paul stated ‘’Lee has been fantastic since I arrived at the club, a top player and he has helped immensely with the young squad we have here. I’m gutted he is moving on. I do completely understand though, he needs and wants to be playing week in, week out as he nears the end of his playing days. The form of others hasn’t allowed him to do that here. We wish him all the best going forward.’’
