Biggleswade get their squad together

Trio signed

Biggleswade FC are delighted to announce the signing of Kieran Barnes, Dan Newton and James Connell ahead of their Emirates FA Cup tie with Mildenhall Town on Saturday.

Kieran arrives from Hitchin Town have spent pre-season at Top Field before making the switch to Langford Road following Tuesday's friendly win over The Canaries. Barnes is a long-term target of FC management duo Dave Northfield and Mark Inskip.

They tried to sign him the summer before last after impressing for Stotfold and following his successful spell at Baldock Town last season where he scored 22 goals, Northfield and Inskip made the move once more only to miss out for a second time. They are delighted to finally get their man though and they have high hopes for him as he looks to make his name with FC at the next level.

FC's second recruit is Dan Newton. The 19-year-old centre half was with Northwood last season in the Isthmian League and was recommended to us by Royston Town after spending part of pre-season at Garden Walk. Newton has played the last two friendlies and has shown promising signs that he could be the man FC have been looking for to help reinforce the centre of defence ahead of their Southern League bow.

The third and final signing is James Connell, who arrives with us from reigning BetVictor Southern League Division One Central champion Peterborough Sports. The young keeper has been gaining experience in the non-league game after playing development football at Mansfield Town.
