Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central leader Peterborough Sports have strengthened their squad further by signing experienced defender Johnny Herd following his departure from Southern League Premier Division Central side St Neots Town.
Born in Huntingdon, Herd, now 29, started his career with Southend United and progressed to make 42 first-team appearances for the Shrimpers.
He was released in May 2011 and spent a season with Ebbsfleet United, making 22 appearances before leaving for then-league rivals Bishop`s Stortford.
Herd joined the Saints at the back end of the 2016/17 season from Bishop`s Stortford and played an instrumental part in maintaining Premier Division status.
He made around 80 appearances for St Neots, scoring 7 goals, before being one of several recent departures due to budget cuts.
